Finding the perfect bathroom window curtains can be fun and frustrating at the same time. Your bathroom has needs that are similar to other rooms in your home, but at the same time the curtains that are typically available for the bathroom can often be limited. So what can you do to find the right ones?

First of all, you should figure out what your room’s needs are. If the window is not tinted in some way, or doesn’t contain blinds, then you will need curtains that offer some privacy. You should be able to draw the curtains closed, for instance, especially at night.

If the window is small, then you might be able to get by with a simple valance or cafe curtains. On the other hand, if your bathroom has large windows, then finding curtains that reach the floor might be preferable. Of course, these will be harder to keep clean. White bathroom window curtains for example would be out of the question.

Remember, too that your bathroom is going to collect moisture. You don’t want to choose fabrics such as silk or satin that can get damaged in water or moisture. Instead, choosing a cotton-based fabric is preferable. In fact, choosing curtains that can be machine washed are ideal when it comes to the bathroom. If you don’t want to clean them often and moisture is a problem, perhaps waterproof bathroom window curtains would do better.

Most people pick out their shower curtain first, when it comes to bathroom designs. It is easier to plan your towels, accessories, and curtains around a shower curtain than it is to do it vice-versa. Keep in mind that your window curtains don’t have to contain the same pattern as your shower curtain. In fact, it’s better that they complement the shower curtain in color then to match it completely as this can get overwhelming.

For example, if you have a shower curtain that contains a tropical image of a beach and palm trees, then using a solid-colored bathroom window curtain that contains at least one of the colors in your shower curtain is a good idea. You can always match your accessories, such as your waste basket and toothbrush holder, to the tropical images on the shower curtain itself.

When searching for curtain designs, don’t just look in the bathroom aisle. You might also find useful curtains in the kitchen aisle as well. The kitchen and bathroom have similar needs and the curtains can be used interchangeably. This might also offer you a wider selection of bathroom window curtains to select from than if you had just stuck to the ones offered in the bathroom aisle.
