Finding the right bay window curtains can be challenging. Bay windows are some of the most interesting windows that can be found and they ordinarily offer excellent views.   People play around with all sorts of bay window curtains ideas.  You don’t necessarily want to cover them up, but you still might want to provide some type of covering for them to either assure you some privacy or to regulate the amount of light that comes into your home at certain times of the day.

Sometimes, despite the fact that bay windows are large, they can get lost in a room. This is particularly true if the room itself is large to begin with. For that reason, you might want to accentuate your window with a bay window curtain. While using long drapes might not be the right approach, there are other ways that you can draw attention to it.

One way of doing this is by using a valance. A valance can use color and texture to tie the window in with the rest of the room, but it won’t take away from the window, either. You can also try using a window scarf which drapes across the top of the window. This is generally sheer and hangs down on either side of the window, about halfway down. It doesn’t cover the window itself, but adds some style and color to it.

Of course, if you feel that the window is too large and lets in too much light in your room, then hanging heavy drapes on either side of the window and tying them back can help make the window appear smaller. Plus, at night, you can close them for added privacy.

Because bay windows are so large, many people worry about outsiders being able to look in on them at night when they have their lights on. Having curtains that can be pulled shut can be important for this reason so in that case you might want to forgo the valances and scarves.

Depending on the needs of your room, you can either partially cover your bay window or simply accent it with something small. Think about what you require as far as your personal tastes, as well as what goes well in your room. While some people prefer not to have any window treatments at all with such a large window, other people like adding a bit of color and texture to them in order to make the room appear more complete.  Another way to go to accentuate your window might be to use balloon curtains, but with bay windows this might be tricky.
